What is play-based
learning
Play-based learning is a
way of describing how young kids explore and make sense of their world. This
does not mean children play all day long as there is structure to their full
day program. There are points throughout the day where the children come
together as a group to listen to others when they are talking, follow rules of
group living and begin to take responsibility for their environment and
actions. Play-based learning consists of choices that the children are
offered which reflect their developmental stage. These choices are provided by
adults of course. This way of learning emphases to encourage children to
express their own ideas in play, basically to represent their world in order to
understand it better. During play-based learning children play with each other
working on their language and social abilities, creatively seeking solutions to
problems and conflicts and exploring and experiencing the content associated
with all learning areas. Also, Play-based learning develops active learning
where the children are using their brains in a variety of different ways. http://www.det.nt.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0015/960/play-based_learning.pdf
